The third annual Ukrainian investment summit starts today in London. As usually, the Adam Smith Institute organizes it. The first time summit was held in 2005 several months after orange revolution. At that time this event attracted attention of foreign investors.

As members of summit-2007 steering committee note, this year summit has the most number of people who have been registered for the participation in the forum. “They confirmed its reputation as the largest international meeting concerned with investments into Ukraine”.

“Summit showed itself as a main place where Ukrainian business elite can hold meeting with their foreign colleagues. Over 500 participants gathered from 22 countries in 2006”, steering committee members emphasized.

The Ukrainian investment summit will be held on March, 12-25 in the hotel Royal Lancaster this year. Event will be opened with speech of Ukraine’s Ambassador to London Igor Kharchenko and British Ambassador to Kyiv Timothy Barrow. Then the head of Interparty group on relations with Ukraine at the British Parliament John Grogan will make a speech.
As steering committee members note, the first plenary session of summit will be devoted to the macroeconomic situation. Within its framework the head of the state investments and innovations agency of Ukraine Viktor Ivchenko, the first Vice-Premier, Finance Minister of Ukraine Nikolay Azarov, deputy president of the National bank of Ukraine Alexander Savchenko, Transport and Communications Minister of Ukraine Nikolay Rudkovskiy and also British Minister for affairs in Europe Jeff Hun will have reports.

In the afternoon subject discussion will be held at the same time – “Real estate”, “Bank sector”, “Points of economic growth” , etc. The first day of summit will be ended with ceremonial reception for delegates in Gild hall – representative city hall in London City.
The work of forum will be continued on Tuesday, March, 13. Meetings are planned to be devoted to cooperation of Ukrainian and international market of capitals, Ukrainian companies at world exchanges and conducting IPO, general estimation of investment climate in Ukraine.

New event is included into the program of summit-2007 – Ukrainian energy summit, which is scheduled at March, 14. Energy summit will be held with the help of Fuel and Energy Ministry of Ukraine. Participants of the forum will take part in the discussions of problems and outlooks of energy sphere of the Ukrainian economy, stressing on key geopolitical events, opportunities to explore and to extract hydrocarbons and to cover plans how to continue privatization in the electrical and energy spheres.

The British Energy Minister Lord Peter Truscott and Fuel and Energy Minister of Ukraine Yuriy Boyko are planned to make key reports at the energy summit. Among speakers are also executive director of the International energy agency Clod Mandil, representatives of the Secretariat at the Energy charter and European bank of reconstruction and development and also some directors of the Ukrainian and international energy companies – Ukrgaz-Energo, Ukrtransnaphta, Naphtogaz Ukrainy, Ukrenergo, Shell Ukraine, etc.
