Number of families who have applied to get housing and communal subsidies has increased by 2,5 times during 5 months till the start of this year in comparison with the similar period last year in Ukraine.

According to the State statistics committee, specific weight of families who live in the cities and need subsidies came to 77 percents. In May this year number of families who take part in the program of housing subsidies came to 2,9 percents out of the total number of families in Ukraine that by 1,2 percents more than in May 2006. These families have been getting subsidies for compensation of expenses for the payment of housing and communal services.

An average amount of subsidy for compensation of expenses on the payment of housing and communal services for one family has increased by 2,7 times and came to Hr 54 in May this year in comparison with the same period last year.

In January-May 2007 subsidies have been fixed for compensation of expenses for the payment of housing and communal services for 982,000 families that came to 91,4 percents out of total number of families who need subsidies. Out of it there are 763,200 families which live in the cities, 218,800 families live in the villages.

In comparison with the same period in 2006 number of families who have received subsidies raised by 663,400 families (by three times). The total sum of subsidies fixed by families for compensation of expenses for the payment of housing and communal services came to Hr 84,5 mn in January-May 2007 that nine times more than the same index in 2006. Out of it 73,6 mn of hryvnias are in the cities, 10,9 mn hryvnias are in the villages.
